Match Report – Bray Wanderers 2 Treaty United 1
Bray Wanderers (WU17) 5 Wexford FC (WU17) 0
Women's Under 17 League group 1, Saturday 28 February 2026
Woodlands
The U17 women lined out for the first home game of season, eager to make amends for the away loss to CK United last weekend.
A lovely sunny afternoon allowed for perfect conditions for a game of football, with an additional debut today for Julie Baumann who put in an assured performance. From the off, Bray looked to play the ball quickly and to feet.
On the 6th minute Ava Clarke received the ball down left wing, and stepping towards goal, a Wexford handball just outside the box resulted in a free kick. Bella McCleod stepped up for the free kick and hammered the ball home past the Wexford wall for 1-0 to Bray.
Wexford came straight back at Bray with D. Fleming of Wexford looking to gain the upper hand in midfield.
On the 40 minute, Grace Leonard sent a good ball down the left side to Rachel Gillis, who played into the feet of Bella McCleod. Bella moved the ball deftly to the left past T. Dunphy of Wexford, but, was fouled in the box. Captain Ava Clarke stepped up to score the penalty. 2-0 Bray.
On the 42nd minute Wexford again came at Bray with a fantastic looping shot which Rebecca Howard incredibly got a fingertip touch to, pushing the ball off the crossbar. Bray went in 2-0 at half time.
The second half started well for Bray with Ava Clarke pouncing on a ball not cleared in the Wexford box to make to 3-0.
Wexford continued to come at Bray and Rebecca Howard had to make a number of very good saves to keep Wexford out.
In the 78th minute the ball was played down the left wing by Emily O'Driscoll into Ava Clarke and moved quickly into space on the right to Anna Morrissey who shot first time for, probably, the goal and move of the game.
As the game neared full time, a corner for Bray taken by Anna Morrissey was finished with a super header by Ellie O'Brien to make it 5-0.
Well done girls for a great result.
