Shamrock Rovers 6 Bray Wanderers 1

A below par display saw Bray suffer their first LOI Academy MU20 Group 1 loss of the 2026 season.
The visitors started slowly last Saturday at the Roadstone Academy and trailed 5-0 at the break against Shamrock Rovers.
Both clubs had started the campaign last week with victories – Wanderers overcoming Wexford FC 4-2 at the Carlisle Grounds while the Dubliners saw off Klub Kildare 5-0 at the FBD Hotels and Resorts Park
Just three minutes had ticked by when the home side – playing in all black - broke the dead-lock through Lenix Lynch.
Josh O’Dwyer’s quick-fire double (13 and 19) had the Dubliner’s 3-0 up.
Adam Byrne notched a fourth on 26 minutes before Zak Reddy slotted in a 39th minute penalty.
A half time reshuffle with three substitutions made saw the Wicklow outfit make it more of a contest in the second period.
Although they battled well, sub Maxim Afonin netted for the hosts in the 86th minute.
The Seagulls bagged a late consolation when skipper Ethan Cheese scored off a free-kick in time added on.

Bray Wanderers: Rian Hogan; Jack Lawless, Bailey Shelley, Caleb O'Neil, 3 Luke Smith; Flynn Ryan, 8 Ethan Cheese; Cristiano Bramley, Max Mc Laughlin, Phillip Cooney, Leon Keogh.

Subs: Max Free, Darragh Butler, Eric Schútte, Luke Burke, Leon Creighton, Sean Howard, Ryan Owens, Dylan Ryan, Alex Forde.

* Elsewhere in the section, Klub Kildare defeated Waterford Fc 2-0 at the SETU Arena while Wexford FC beat CK United 1-0 at Ferrycarrig Park.

* Bray return to the Carlisle Grounds on Saturday March 7 to host Klub Kildare.
