Bray Wanderers 1 Klub Kildare 3
Two late goals saw Bray fall to a 3-1 EA SPORTS MU20 LOI Group A home defeat to Klub Kildare.
Ina tight encounter on Saturday afternoon at Berryfield Park, the Wicklow side conceded against the run of play late in the first period.
Having drawn level, Wanderers missed an opportunity to go in front with the visitors scoring with virtually their next attacking.
The match also featured Dylan Barnett’s competitive return to football for the Green and White’s – his first outing since September 2022.
It also saw new singing Jamie Ryan make his club debut.
Wanderers went close early on.
Max McLaughlin was denied by Aodh Conway in the sixth minute while three minutes later, Barnett got to the left byline. But Leon Keogh’s close range effort flew the wrong side the post.
The Lilywhite’s took the lead in the 36th minute. From Vuyolwethu Mosea’s low right flank centre, Mark Canavan slotted in a low close range finish.
Bray almost equalised midway through the second half. Ryan played in McLaughlin, but he shot into the side netting.
But in the 69th minute, the Seasiders restored parity.
Breaking from his own half, Ethan Cheese released Alain Kizenga . He burst forward to strike from the right of the box into of the far left post.
In the 72nd minute, Conway made a fine diving save to keep out McLaughlin’s free-kick.
A turning point in the game came in the 80th minute.
Cheese’s free saw Abdurahman Bouderbala’s shot blocked. But it ran for sub Luke Nolan who skied over the bar from 12 yards.
Less than a minute later at the other end, Kildare re-took the lead.
Sub Alex Malone’s right wing centre was met by Chidozie Roland Uzoma’s diving header which went in off the back post.
With the tie into the second minute of time added, away sub Chris Idah was brought down in the box by Bouderbala who picked up a second yellow card.
