Sligo Rovers 3 Bray Wanderers 2
Bray conceded an injury time goal they lost out to Sligo in the EA SPORTS U17 League of Ireland Tier 2 North.
The Wicklow side came from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 at the interval on Sunday at the Showgrounds (Astro Turf).
But Rovers levelled with 20 minutes to go before snatching victory four minutes into time added on.
With a large number of players unavailable due to injury and suspension, U14 player Harry Murray was included in the away matchday squad for the first time.
Wanderers started slowly and conceded off a corner, with Stephen Gibbons getting the final touch to Oisin Choo’s seventh minute flag kick
Bray started to settle into the game and dominated the rest of the half, playing some very good football.
Billy Feeney and Sean Hennelly both had great chances to equalise, but it took until the 28th minute for the Seagulls draw level.
Some good play down the right wing between Aaron Murphy and Cristiano Bramley led to Bramley squaring the ball for Hennelly to finish well at the back post.
The Seasiders’ second score came ten minutes later. This time, goalkeeper Alex Forde played a long ball over the top to release Bramley. He again squared for Hennelly to score and make it 2-1.
But the Green and White’s never got going in the second half.
Continued turnovers allowed the Bit O’red to come back into the game.
On 69 minutes, they got a deserved equaliser.
A misplaced pass at the back led to the home side to winning a penalty. Custodian Forde produced a great save but the chaos that followed meant that Bray never regained their shape. And a deep cross 30 seconds later found Ryan Quinn free at the back post to head in.
Bray continued to ride their luck after that. But four minutes into stoppage time, Sligo got the winner.
Again Wanderers lost the ball in their own half. Home sub Ryan Cunningham’s strike went in off the hand of reserve keeper Jamie Dalton.
Bray Wanderers: Alex Forde; Jack Lawless, Adeyemi Raphael Odogiyan, Aaron Murphy, Luke Burke; Leon Creighton, Sean Howard; Billy Feeney, Flynn Ryan, Sean Hennelly; Cristiano Bramley.
Subs: Albie Tormey, Romeo Fomenky, Harry Murray, Jamie Dalton.
