Bray Wanderers 3 Wexford FC 3
In their final EA SPORTS MU17 LOI Group A fixture in Phase 1, Bray had to settle for a point.
After falling behind to Wexford on Sunday afternoon at the Carlisle Grounds, the Wicklow club levelled by half time.
A second half double by substitute Cristiano Bramley had the Green and White’s 3-1 ahead by the 79th minute.
But two late goals by the Slaneysiders saw them claim a 3-3 draw.
The result means that Bray finished fourth on 11 points. Wexford had the same points tally. But Wanderers had a superior goal difference of +5 between the clubs.
When the teams met last March at Ferrycarrig Park, the Seasgulls won 2-1.
This time round, the away side took a 25th minute lead. Kyal Byrne’s 22-yard free in the ‘D off the left of the box took a deflection off the wall and wrong footed the diving Jamie Dalton.
But the hosts equalised in the 35th minute.
Billy Feeney got clear off the right endline. His cut-back was deflected into the path of Etan Kelly who drilled in low from 14-yards.
Bray went ahead in the 68th minute. Flynn Ryan’s shot was deflected into the box. Bramley reacted and hooked back over his shoulder close in past sub keeper Luke Axinte.
The home sub then made 3-1 in the 79th minute. He raced through off Albie Tormey’s astute pass up the middle to side foot in from 15-yards.
But the visitors pulled one back in the 83rd minute.
Byrne’s superb cross-field ball from the left picked out the unmarked sub Darragh Buttle who volleyed in at the back post.
Then in a fine approach play move in the 88th minute, Wexford restored parity when Byrne unleashed a brilliant 20-yard right footed drive to the net.
