Mayo FC 0
Hat-tricks by the strike duo of Cristiano Bramley and Flynn Ryan saw Bray opening their EA SPORTS MU17 League of Ireland Tier 2 North campaign in style.
Amid the rain and sunshine on Sunday afternoon, the Green and White’s led 6-0 at the interval before completing a 10-0 home victory over a spirited Mayo.
The Green and White’s needed just eight minutes to make their mark.
Bramley intercepted a pass out from the back on the edge of the box before slotting in low.
It became 2-0 on the half hour. Flynn Ryan sent over a cross from the left which saw an away player divert the ball into his own net.
Another score arrived in the 34th minute.
Etan Kelly burst from the left flank. His astute slid-rule pass set Billy Feeney set free to angle a lovely low finish into the far bottom right corner of the net.
The Seagulls finished the period with a flourish.
In the 40th minute, Bramley returned Feeney’s right cross off the left to find Ryan who bent into the far corner with a wonderful 22-yard shot.
Then in the 44th minute, the visitors had a corner. But home custodian Alex Forde claimed. His long kick then saw Bramley get the better of a defender before making no mistake from ten-yards.
The games in the first minute of stoppage time when Feeney returned the favour to Kelly – delivering low from the right with the winger blasting to the roof of the net from close range.
U15 players Adeyemi Raphael Odogiyan, Daniel Oluwadara Olusola and Jamie Lynch were blooded in the second half as the club continued their pathway progression,
Ryan added to the tally on 67. He latched onto Kelly’s reverse pass to glide pass a defender and hit a rising 16-yard drive to the roof of the net.
Skipper Max Free then got in on the act three minutes. He claimed his first score of the season by drilling in low from close range off Sean Howard’s free.
Bramley completed his treble in the 80th minute by converting a penalty after Kelly had been fouled in the box.
Not to be outdone, Ryan picked himself up in the 87th minute after being tripped in the area to notch his third goal from the resulting penalty.
