Bohemians 3 Bray Wanderers 2
Bray’s three-game winning streak in the EA SPORTS MU17 LOI Group A came to an end when going down to Bohemians on Sunday.
Having also won the reverse fixture back in February, the Dubliner’s moved above Wanderers in the table up to second place after the 3-2 result at the Oscar Traynor Centre.
The visitors started lively, and Cristiano Bramley had a great chance to give the Seagulls a lead inside the first 20 seconds. He rushed through on goal, but home goalkeeper Alfie Black made a good save.
Isaac Millington then tested the keeper after good link up with Bramley but again, Black came out on top. Flynn Ryan was next to try his luck. His long range effort was also well saved.
After that positive beginning, things took a turn in Bohs' favour in a three-minute spell just after the tenth minute mark.
Wanderers didn’t deal with a home corner and as the ball bounced in the box, Logan Dunne was on hand to fire into the net.
Just two minutes later, it was 2-0. Odhran O'Connell picked the ball up just inside the away half and drove towards the box.
His attempted through ball was half blocked but Josh Harpur was there to tap into the empty net.
Bray rallied towards the end of the half and a nice sweeping move in the 33rd minute from their own half worked the ball to Billy Feeney on the right wing. He squared to Albie Tormey, who stroked the ball into the goal.
With the next goal always going to be crucial, it went the hosts way in the 67th minute.
Again, Bray failed to deal with a corner. This time Charlie McConnell was on hand to bundle the ball over the line.
Bramley had a fine effort from the edge of the box saved as Wanderers attempted to get back into the game.
In the dying moments of the game, the Green and White’s grabbed a consolation.
Sub Adeyemi Raphael Odogiyan lifted a ball into the back post and found Bramley free. And tyhe attacker made no mistake, putting the ball beyond Black.
Bray Wanderers: Alex Forde; Jack Lawless, Max Free, Bailey Shelley, Luke Burke; Flynn Ryan, Sean Howard; Cristiano Bramley, Billy Feeney, Albie Tormey; Isaac Millington.
Subs: Adeyemi Raphael Odogiyan, Karl Ralph, Etan Kelly, Evan Lynch, Jamie Dalton.
* Elsewhere, leaders UCD defeated Klub Kildare 3-0 at Marley Park. Shamrock Rovers beat Wexford FC 7-1 at Ferrycarrig Park.
* Bray return to the Carlisle Grounds on Sunday April 13 when they host UCD.
