Bohemians 2 Bray Wanderers 2
In their first EA SPORTS MU17 LOI Group A game after the break, Bray picked up a point on the road to Bohemians.
In an eventful contest on Sunday morning at the Oscar Traynor Centre, Wanderers were only denied victory by an injury time equaliser.
After falling behind to the Dubliner’s, the hosts were reduced to ten players following a red card to former Seagull Joe Collins.
The visitors then scored twice in quick succession to go in 2-1 up at the break.
When the two teams met in the reverse fixture last April, the Gypsies won 2-1 at Berryfield Park in Enniskerry.
This time round, Ethan Cheese had the first good chance of the match for the Green and White’s when he was put through on goal only to be thwarted by the out rushing Collins.
The home side took the lead in the sixth minute. An out swinging corner was headed clear by Luke Smith. It fell to Andrew Paraschiv who was free at the corner of the box. He had time to pick his spot, curling the ball into the corner of the net.
However, in the ninth minute, Billy O'Neill split the Bohs defence with a through ball. Sean Hennelly sprinted onto it and was taken down by Collins. The goalkeeper was deemed to be preventing an obvious goal scoring chance and received his marching orders.
Bray really grew into the game and controlled the rest of the half.
They were rewarded when O'Neill headed in from close range on 26 minutes. The Wicklow outfit took a deserved lead three minutes later. Ryan Owens burst through from left back to score his first goal for the club.
The game became scrappy in the second half. And despite Wanderers having some opportunities to wrap the tie up, the hosts started to push on in the final 15 minutes of the encounter.
In the 91st minute, that pressure told. From a corner, Conor Errity just about bundled the ball over the line for a last-gasp equaliser.
Bray Wanderers: Alex Forde; Conor Lougheed, Ronan Dawson, Luke Smith, Ryan Owens; Eric Schütte, Flynn Ryan, Bradley Byrne, Ethan Cheese, Sean Hennelly; Billy O'Neill.
Subs: Bailey Shelley; Max Free, Aidan Kane, Kian Dowling, Cristiano Bramley, Phillip Cooney, Jack Nolan, David Winkler.
* Elsewhere in the section, Finn Harps defeated Drogheda United 2-1 at Finn Park. The two results mean that the Donegal side will finish third in the Group with Wanderers in fourth place.
* Bray finish off the group on Sunday June 30 when they host Finn Harps at Ballycorus.
