Longford Town 1 Bray Wanderers 6
After three EA SPORTS U15 League of Ireland Tier 2 North defeats in a row, Bray got back to win ways with a convincing away victory over Longford.
Six different players featured on the scoresheet for the young Seagulls on Saturday afternoon at Bishopsgate.
Wanderers opened the scoring after just six minutes in spectacular fashion. Jamie Lynch hit a stunning 30 yarder which crashed into the net off the underside of the crossbar.
It wasn’t until the 40th minute that the lead was doubled.
Following good approach play, a shot by Oliver Gnutek was parried by the home keeper James Michael Jennings. From a tight angle, Nathan Roberts Byrne buried the rebound high into the roof of the net.
It became 3-0 on the hour mark with arguably the best score of the contest.
In a team move, Zac Lawlor was released down the right wing. His wonderful low cross saw the onrushing Danny Howard power in a fantastic finish.
Five minutes later, after panic in the ‘Town defence from an away corner, Lewis Brady applied the final touch from three yards out.
A fifth goal arrived in the 77th minute.
Good build up play between Howard, skipper Ryan Higgins and Gnutek saw Conor Cunningham free on the penalty spot. Quick footwork saw the sub convert with a simple finish.
With eight minutes of normal time remaining, it became 6-0.
Howard split the Longford defence with a through ball that found Kyle Jackson free. The sub then lashed a right footed drive from the edge of the box to the net.
The hosts bagged an 86th minute consolation.
A snap shot was parried by reserve away keeper Elliot Homan. But fell to Dylan Reddington who bundled over the goal line.
