Bray Wanderers 5 Klub Kildare 0

Bray finished off their EA SPORTS LOI Academy League 2024 Phase 2 – Tier (South) campaign with an emphatic win.
At the fourth time of asking in the 2024 season, the Wicklow team finally got the better of Klub Kildare with a 5-0 success at the Carlisle Grounds on Saturday afternoon.
The reverse fixture at the FBD Hotels and Resorts Park had finished 1-1 back in August.
The earlier two EA Sports LOI Academy Group B clashes last April had finished 5-5 then 3-3.
But this result was never in doubt after the Seagulls hit the front in the fifth minute. Evan Lynch’s pass was cleverly back heeled by Charlie Byrne to release Louis Rothwell off the left channell to finish low from close range.
The second goal was always going to be crucial. It came in virtually the last play on the opening period.
Jamie Dalton made a vital block to deny Jack Ralph in the 29th minute.
From the corner that followed, the home goalkeeper caught the ball. He launched a big kick for Daniel Oluwadara Olusola to chase down. The striker turned a defender in the box and curled left footed from 15-yards to the net.
The second period was only four minutes old when it became 3-0.
Byrne won possession wide left of the penalty area. He broke through to angle a low drive into the bottom right hand corner.
There was a lot going on for Bray’s fourth goal in the 47th minute.
Dalton tangled with away sub Callum Reilly in the home ‘D. No foul was given by referee Darren O’Brien – much to the visitors annoyance - when there could have easily been a different outcome.
Play continued as Wanderers attacked down their right flank. The flag went up for the ball going out of play – but it had not. Again, the match official correctly waved play on.
Oluwadara Olusola found Harry Grainger whose low cross-shot was side-footed in by Rothwell.
The Green and White’s notched their fifth goal in the 89th minute.
Sub Ryan Butler weaved his way into the penalty box, beating three opponents. He drilled low from the right were Albie Tormey-Murphy tapped in.
