Bray Wanderers 2 Waterford FC 4

Despite a late rally, it wasn’t enough to prevent Bray from suffering a 4-2 U15 EA SPORTS LOI Academy MU15 League 2024 Phase 2 – Tier Two (South) home loss.
The concession of two goals in each of the opening and middle third’s proved too much to claw back for Wanderers who scored twice without reply on Saturday afternoon at Ballycorus in the final third.
When the reverse fixture took place last month at the SETU Arena, the Blue’s won 3-0.
They were on their way to repeating that feat after the opening half hour.
The Munster side hit the front in the 13th minute when Bobby Keohan released Benjamin Fahey to slot on low when cutting in off the right wing.
The hosts went close to levelling matters in the 20th minute. Albie Tormey cut the ball back from the right endline with Charlie Byrne swivelling to shoot close in. But Cadyn Morgan made a fine parried save.
The away team then doubled their advantage in the 25th minute.
Harry Farrell broke up the middle. But he was blocked off. However, Keohan followed up to hit a looping 15-yard right-footed half volley to the roof of the net.
The second period was only 35 seconds old when the visitors made it 3-0.
Kai McSwiggan’s attempted clearance rebounded off substitute Callum Slattery and dropped to the unguarded goal.
Waterford notched a fourth in the 55th minute. Sub Joey Dempsey sent in a low centre from the right which Slattery angled into the far bottom left corner of the net with a low 12-yard finish.
But the final third saw Bray get on top.
They pulled one back in the 65th minute when Adeyemi Raphael Odogiyan scored his first goal for the club by heading in sub Louis Rothwell’s free-kick.
Then in the 70th minute, Charlie Quinn flight over a corner from the right flank. In the scramble that followed, sub Etan Kelly forced the ball over the line from close range.
