Bray Wanderers 1 Drogheda United 3
Goals early in the opening period and late in the second half saw Bray fall to Drogheda in the EA SPORTS U15 League of Ireland Tier 2 North
Trailing 1-0 at the break on Saturday afternoon, the Green and White’s levelled just after the turnaround at the Carlisle Grounds.
But United went 2-1 up soon after being securing the points late on.
Wanderers went close in the third minute, when off a run and shot from the left edge of the box, Olivier Gnutek clipped the bar and went over.
The visitors took the lead in the 14th minute.
Off Gearoid Hannigan’s corner, defender Finn McCormack steered a glancing front post header to the far corner of the net.
The home team equalised themselves off a corner three minutes after the break. From Alex Mernagh’s delivery, there was a scramble in the six-yard area. Lewis Brady then reacted to force the ball over the goal-line.
But Drogheda went back in front just 90 seconds later.
Patrick Bourke got free along the right flank. His endline pull back was met by substitute Sean Hegarty who rifled a first time right-footed effort to the net.
Wanderers went close to an 80th minute equaliser.
Brady and Zac Lawlor combined on the right wing. The ball was worked to sub Sean Goggin whose volleyed attempt just missed the far post.
The Louth club then sealed victory in the 89th minute. Hannigan sent over a corner from the right which Hegarty powered to the net with a fine header.
