Shamrock Rovers 4 Bray Wanderers 0
The concession of two early goals saw Bray go down against Shamrock Rovers on Sunday in the U14 EA Sports Eddie Wallace Cup.
But three goals in the opening third helped the Hoops’ pave the way for all three Group C points at Roadstone.
An early effort in the opening stages by Archibald Quinn put the Dubliner’s ahead.
Corey Fay converted a penalty soon after to make it 2-0. Before the end of the period, Quinn found the net again.
Wanderers regrouped in the middle third with substitutions and positional changes. And went close to pulling one back when Jamie Lynch struck a shot from the edge of the box narrowly wide.
It continued in the same vein in the last 30 minutes. But the host notched a fourth in the 70th minute when Bobby Zeller latched onto a long ball and slotted to the net.
Bray Wanderers: Shane O'Dowd, Lewis Brady, Rhys Behan, Aaron Nolan, Senan Dutton; Ryan Higgins, Alex Mernagh; Aaron Kelly-Mladin, Olivier Gnutek, Jamie Lynch; James Loughnane.
Subs: Leighton Carroll, Cillian Walsh, Nathan Roberts Byrne, Finn McKeown.
* Elsewhere in the section, Shelbourne beat Klub Kildare 6-0 at the FBD Hotels and Resorts Park. UCD defeated Wexford FC 4-0 at Marley Park.
All the results mean Shels lead the way on seven points after three games. Shamrock Rovers are on six points from two matches. UCD have four points from two outings.
Bray have three points from three games. Both Klub Kildare and Wexford are pointless from two fixtures.
* Bray return to Ballycorus on Sunday (July 14) next to entertain UCD.
