Bray Wanderers 1 UCD 4
Three goals in five minute spell proved costly as Bray bowed out of the U14 EA SPORTS Eddie Wallace Cup at the last 16 stage.
When the teams met last month at Ballycorus in the same competition, Wanderers won 4-1 in the Group C encounter.
But UCD turned the result on its head at the same venue on Sunday afternoon to advance to the Quarter Finals.
After a scoreless first period of 25 minutes, the visitors found the net three times between the 42nd, 44th and 46th minutes to pave their way to the last eight of the competition - with substitute Luca McLaughlin on the mark twice.
The ‘College were awarded a 42nd minute penalty after a foul on sub Zac Lawlor that was converted by McLaughlin.
Just 90 seconds later, away striker JP Power made the most of a defensive mix-up to lob the ball into an empty net.
Then in the 46th minute, a piece of individual brilliance saw McLaughlin glide past a couple of tackles before firing in from 20-yards left footed off the right hand post.
The Seagulls pulled one back nine minutes into the final third.
Alex Mernagh combined with substitute Conor Cunningham of the left flank. James Loughnane was played in on the corner of the box to fire to the net from 14-yards.
The Student’s wrapped up the win three minutes from the end of normal time.
Of an attack from the right wing, Matthew Gormley squared to the unmarked sub Dylan Taylor who had two attempts before poking over the line from close range.
