Cobh Ramblers (WDL) 1 Bray Wanderers (WDL) 1
Our Women’s Development squad (U23s) made the trip to Cobh on Sunday and came away with a well-earned point after a highly competitive encounter with Cobh Ramblers. We started brightly and created several early chances but were just unable to turn that early dominance into goals. The breakthrough finally arrived in the 26th minute from a corner, with Chelsea Snell’s initial effort falling perfectly for Aisling Driver, who marked her first start of the season by calmly finishing into the bottom corner.
We looked well placed to push on from there, but despite continued pressure and shots on goal, we couldn’t quite add to our lead. Credit to Cobh, who came out with real energy in the second half and deserved their equaliser. Late on, we had a couple of great opportunities to take all three points, only to be denied by some determined defending.
Plenty of positives to take from a strong away performance as we dust ourselves down and turn our focus to Cork City at home in two weeks’ time.
