Bray Wanderers staged an impressive comeback to earn a deserved point against Treaty United after recovering from a two-goal deficit in an entertaining First Division clash at Markets Field on Friday night. 

 

The home side appeared to be cruising towards victory after a dominant opening period in which they raced into a two-goal lead and controlled much of the play. Treaty were sharp from the outset, pressing high and causing Bray problems during the first half as they capitalised on their opportunities to establish what looked like a commanding advantage. Jason Oyenuga & Mark Byrne produced two early goals for the hosts from short range and both beat Jimmy Corcoran in the Bray goal first time around. 

 

Bray's comeback began when Tyreik Sammy reduced the arrears, giving the visitors a much-needed lifeline and shifting the momentum firmly in Bray’s favour. The goal injected belief into the Seagulls and they began to play with greater confidence as Treaty were forced onto the back foot. 

 

Bray’s persistence was rewarded again towards the end of the first half when Daniel Ring found the equaliser, finishing clinically to complete a remarkable turnaround from a side that had looked out of contention. 

 

With the scores level, both teams pushed for a winner in an open and competitive second half. Treaty sought to reassert themselves after their impressive first-half display, while Bray looked dangerous whenever they broke forward. 

 

The visitors thought they had completed the comeback late on when they found the net for a third time, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside. It proved to be the final major talking point of the evening as both sides settled for a share of the spoils. 

 

While Treaty will be disappointed to have let a two-goal lead slip, Bray can take great encouragement from the character and resilience shown. The Seagulls responded superbly to claim a valuable point on the road.
