Match Report – Bray Wanderers 2 Treaty United 1

Longford Town 4-2 Bray Wanderers

SSE Airtricity League First Division — Bishopsgate
Saturday, 22 August 2026

Gareth Danaher reports from Bishopsgate.

Bray Wanderers suffered a disappointing defeat on the road on Saturday night as Longford
Town claimed a 4-2 victory at Bishopsgate.

The Seagulls found themselves behind early on when Aaron Doran’s effort took a deflection on
its way into the net to give Longford a seventh-minute lead. Bray responded well, however, and
restored parity in the 16th minute when Endri Mustali rose highest to head home.

Despite getting back on level terms, Bray were unable to build momentum. Longford regained
the lead on the half-hour mark through Taylor McCarthy, who headed home following good work
from Doran on the wing.

The hosts then struck again just before the interval. James Bailey found the net in the 45th
minute to give Longford a 3-1 advantage at the break.

Bray were left with a mountain to climb in the second half and Longford extended their lead ten
minutes after the restart. Doran completed his brace in the 55th minute, putting the home side
4-1 ahead.

The Seagulls continued to battle and were rewarded late on when Mustali grabbed his second
of the night in the 86th minute. However, it proved to be nothing more than a consolation as
Longford held on for all three points.

The result sees Longford strengthen their position in the First Division play-off race, while Bray
will be disappointed after conceding four goals despite scoring twice themselves. Longford
moved to fourth in the table, with the victory keeping them firmly in the hunt for a play-off place.

For Paul Heffernan’s men, attention now turns to recovering from the defeat and getting back to
winning ways in the remaining weeks of the First Division campaign as we face Athlone Town
away on Friday night.
