SEAGULLS SOAR TO 5-0 VICTORY AT THE CARLISLE GROUNDS!
Bray Wanderers run riot at the Carlisle Grounds
Bray Wanderers 5-0 Finn Harps
League of Ireland First Division — Friday, August 7, 2026
Gareth Danaher reports from the Carlisle Grounds.
BRAY WANDERERS turned the Carlisle Grounds into a party on Friday night as they defeated
Finn Harps 5-0 in an impressive display that sent a warning to the rest of the First Division.
The Seagulls wasted little time getting their claws into Harps, with John Bilili Sesay opening
the scoring after a dangerous Bray free-kick caused chaos in the visitors’ penalty area.
Bray continued to dominate and were rewarded again just before half-time when Ben
McCormack doubled the advantage.
At 2-0 down, Harps desperately needed a response. However, the Donegal side were
reduced to ten men in the 67th minute when Max Hutchison was sent off for a second
bookable offence, leaving Bray with an even greater advantage.
Substitute Tyreik Sammy made an instant impact, firing home Bray’s third in the 74th minute to
put the result beyond any reasonable doubt.
With Harps completely beaten, Dean O’Shea added a fourth in the 86th minute as the Seagulls’
supporters celebrated another emphatic home performance.
The icing on the cake came deep into injury time, Sammy struck again to complete his brace
and send the Carlisle Grounds into raptures.
Five goals. Five-star performance. One massive statement.
For Finn Harps, it was an evening to forget. The defeat marked their second
consecutive 5-0 loss, leaving them without a win in six competitive matches.
For Bray, however, this was exactly the sort of performance that sends a message. Bray face
Galway United away next Friday in the Third Round of the FAI Cup at Eamonn Deacy Park with
a 7:45pm kick off.
