David Foley becomes Technical Director
We are delighted to announce that David Foley has been appointed as Bray Wanderers’ full-time Technical Director.
David joined the Club as Academy Director in 2021 and has played a key role in the significant progress made across our youth structures, most recently with the launch of the Emerging Talent Programme – further strengthening our player pathway at Pre-Academy level, a key pillar in the Club’s recruitment strategy.
The promotion sees David assume a broader remit across all our Men’s and Women’s Football Operations, in addition to his existing responsibility for all Academy activities, including oversight of our five connected club relationships and youth recruitment.
This appointment is an important step as we further professionalise our football operations structure, supported by the government’s funding allocation towards the development of League of Ireland football academies, to ensure a sustainable future. As part of this investment, the Club is creating additional full-time roles, for which David has been leading the process.
David Goldstein, Director and Co-Owner, said:
“We are thrilled that Dave is committing his future to the Club, having made such positive and critical contributions to the Club’s progress during his time so far with Bray, and it’s been fantastic to work with him since we arrived.
Dave’s promotion formalises his already growing involvement in our wider Football Operations as a Member of our Technical Board, where he has provided significant benefit to our Men’s First Team and beyond.
We cannot speak highly enough of Dave’s character, dedication, and innovation – we look forward to him taking on this expanded role and leading our Club into the future.”
Speaking on his appointment, David Foley said:
“I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved over the past five years. Together, we have built strong foundations across the Academy, strengthened our player pathway, developed meaningful relationships with the five connected clubs, and created an environment that has helped more young players progress towards senior football.
None of that progress has been achieved by one person. It has been the result of the hard work and commitment of our staff, players, volunteers, connected clubs, supporters and ownership group, all of whom share a vision for the future of Bray Wanderers. I would also like to thank our passionate fans for their continued support and belief in the club, which plays such an important role in everything we do.
I am excited by the opportunity to now build on this work as Technical Director. Working closely with ownership, our football departments and the connected club network, our focus will be on continuing to strengthen every aspect of the football structure, creating clear pathways for players and staff, and ensuring Bray Wanderers is positioned for sustained success both on and off the pitch. We have made significant progress, but there is still a great deal more we can achieve together.
