Bray Wanderers 3 Bohemians 1
First senior goals for the club by Tyriek Sammy and Declan Osagie saw Bray top Group D of the PTSB LFA Leinster Senior Cup.
Up against an U20 Bohemians side at a wet Carlisle Grounds on Friday evening, the Seagulls’ 3-1 victory saw them finish level on points with Finglas United.
With both teams finishing on seven points from the three Group D games, the Wicklow team and United also finished level on goal difference of +3.
But the Seasiders had scored five times compared to the Dubliner’s three goals.
Wanderers had defeated Wexford FC 2-1 at home while drawing 0-0 away against Finglas in January.
The hosts gave full club debuts to new signings Osagie, John Bilili Sesay, and Ifunanyachi Achara, while Sammy made his full debut, with another new signing Kyle Tucker coming off the bench to make his debut.
Remarkably, their appearances meant that a total of 31 players featured in the three fixtures of the competition to date.
Playing in the away strip of Royal Blue, the Seagulls hit the front in the 26th minute.
Osagie launched a long ball forward from his own half. Cian Doyle got behind two covering defenders. He controlled with his first touch in the ‘D. Then hooked a 16-yard right footed half volley to the net.
Somewhat against the run of play, the away outfit equalised in the 50th minute.
A left wing cross wasn’t cut-out. The ball came to Christopher Conlan who took a touch before curling to the net with a placed finish.
That only seemed to inspire Wanderers who restored their advantage in the 68th minute.
Sammy linked with sub Ryan Kelly on the left of the box. He skipped past a tackle in the area and drives left footed low to far bottom of the net.
It became 3-1 in the 70th minute.
Only just on the pitch, sub Ethan Cheese delivered a left flank corner. At a crowded near post, Osagie powered in a close range header against his parent club.
The Gypsies finished with ten players as substitute Aaron Culleton was sent off in the 90th minute.
