Bray Wanderers 1 Longford Town 1
Thomas Morgan’s dramatic 104th minute equaliser snatched an SSE Airtricity First Division draw from the jaws of defeat for Bray.
Amid awful weather conditions on Monday evening, the substitute popped up with the vital strike late on at the Carlisle Grounds.
Fourth official Ian O’Keeffe put up 14 minutes of additional time after a series of delays in the second period.
Skipper Kilian Cantwell lofted a hanging cross from the right towards the box. Shane Griffin got a glancing header. Sub Cole Omorehiomwan got a touch to divert the ball to Morgan 20-yards out.
He side stepped a tackle to hit a left footed shot. It took a deflection off a defender with Jack Brady getting a hand to the ball as it found it’s way to the net.
There was still time for the Wicklow team to nearly win the match. But Brady kept out sub Peter Grogan’s 106th minute drive.
A large part of the stoppage time was accrued due to an injury to home goalkeeper home goalkeeper Jimmy Corcoran who was hurt in the 56th minute.
Adam Wixted broke from his own box as Wanderers had pushed players forward. Bearing in on goal, he chose to slip a pass inside to Bastien Hery. But the covering Shane Griffin got back to hack over the bar.
However, Corcoran collided with team-mate Zach Nolan.
It later transpired the netminder has suffered a dislocated shoulder when play resumed in the 66th minute with Stephen McGuinness taking over between the posts.
There was a further delay from the 84th minute.
After away defender Oisin Hand was booked, there was an off the ball incident.
Players from both sides got involved – along with both benches.
When ordered was restored, Bray’s Max Murphy and the visitors Francus Cambell both saw red from referee Mark Houlihan.
There was three changes to the Green and White’s line-up who’d gone down 4-3 to Wexford last Friday.
In came Paul Murphy, Guillermo Almirall, and Ben Feeney.
Jamie Duggan came in onto the bench while Daniel Chukwu was included for the substitutes for the first time this season.
After early Bray domination, the Midlanders took the lead against the run of play in the eighth minute.
A pass was intercepted in midfielder. Ex-Seagull Wixted slipped Karl Chamber into the box off the left wing. His low finish went in off the far post.
