DS Futsal Blitz

A very proud occasion as Bray Wanderers FC sent its first-ever Down Syndrome Futsal squad to compete in the Cairdeas Cup, a Futsal blitz organised by the LOI/FAI, and held in the national indoor arena on Sunday October 6.
For a squad who have been together for a very short period of time, the Seagulls gave a very good account of themselves with two wins, a draw and two defeats -including a narrow 3-2 loss to the eventual champions Finn Harps.
Alongside the high quality football, the guys also met Republic of Ireland head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson, goal-keeping coach Gudmundur Hreidarsson and assistant coach John O'Shea who all popped in to say hello.
Overall, it was a very well organised blitz, with a brilliant atmosphere created by players and fans along with the coaches!
We are very much looking forward to building on this experience, and growing our DS Futsal programme at Bray Wanderers.
A big thanks to our General Manager Gary Lewins, Sports Promotion Officer John Scanlon and ‘Football for All’ coach Tommy Flynn, who gave up their time to come along with FSR Officer Dermot O'Brien and support the team.
A special thanks to the parents/guardians and key workers who are so committed to making sure the players can avail of these wonderful opportunities.
The Bray Wanderers squad included: Ben Purcell, Damien Flynn, Charlie O’Reilly, Daniel McDyer, Matthew Davis, Stephen Mason and Luca Donohue.
Scores:
Bray 5 Bohs 0
Bray 0 Wexford 2
Bray 2 Shels 0
Bray 2 Finn Harps 3
Bray 1 Cork 1
