Statement from Bray Wanderers FC
A decision to uphold a three-match ban against our player Billy O’Neill was announced yesterday.
This follows a hearing with the Disciplinary Control Unit (DCU) by the player and club representatives.
The suspension rules Billy out of the Play off games against UCD and also a potential play off final.
In upholding the suspension the committee have endorsed the referee and his post match report
and ignored statements from players and staff which highlighted the referee’s conduct before,
during and after the game.
The player was punished for responding to unacceptable language used against him and to having
the officials hand placed on his back.
In a letter to the Head of Referees and the League Director, the club has called for a full investigation
into the actions of the referee and the events which lead to the sending off.
