What is Walking Football?
Walking Football is a slower-paced version of the beautiful game, designed specifically for men and women aged 55 and over. It follows the same rules as standard football – just with no running, minimal contact, and plenty of laughs along the way.
This inclusive and enjoyable activity offers fantastic physical and mental health benefits. It helps improve fitness, balance, and coordination, while also reducing isolation by bringing people together through a shared love of football.
Our very own Walking Wanderers have gone from strength to strength, growing steadily in numbers as more members of the community discover the fun and social opportunity on offer. Whether you're a lifelong player or totally new to the game, everyone is welcome.

The Bray Walking Wanderers
The Bray Walking Wanderers are a lively and growing group of over-55s who meet every Tuesday at the iconic Carlisle Grounds for a relaxed, fun, and social game of walking football. It’s not about competition – it’s about staying active, enjoying the game, and connecting with others in the community.
The focus is firmly on the mental and physical benefits of staying involved in sport, with plenty of laughs and camaraderie each week. Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness, make new friends, or just enjoy a kickabout in a supportive environment, the Walking Wanderers offer the perfect outlet.
While the weekly sessions are all about fun, the Wanderers are also a proud and active team. They regularly face off against other local walking football sides and enter national blitz tournaments throughout the year. They’ve even gone international – arranging friendly fixtures with teams from England, Spain, and Portugal, showing that football truly knows no age or borders.
